ART 1

This course is an introduction to art appreciation and the elements of design as they apply to various techniques and mediums.  The first semester focuses on the techniques and elements crucial to design, drawing and painting. This builds an artist’s understanding and foundations for all areas of art. The second semester deals with printmaking, pottery, and drawing styles. Art history is also covered in both semesters. Because of the information intensive units covered in the first semester, a student cannot newly enroll in second semester Art 1.

ART 3

This course will encourage the student to explore art styles, movements and techniques in order to develop a personal style of their own. Creative concepts and compositional problems are covered. Opportunities for independent study of mediums and techniques will be provided in the second semester of this course
