Manners are Important
The elementary students at Axtell Public School got a lesson on table
manners and etiquette on April 25 courtesy of Melissa Sandmann from
K-State Research and Extension. Students learned the proper way to set a
table and how eating utensils should be used for different foods. The
students discovered taking smaller bites and chewing with your
mouth closed are important ways to use manners. It is also important
to say "please," "thank you," and excuse me" to the people around you.
The elementary students enjoyed the lesson and ended it with a fruit
salad snack. The next day, they got to practice their new etiquette
skills by having a fancy lunch, with tables beautifully decorated by
their caring lunch ladies, LaVerne Strathman and Laurie Cameron.
