Axtell FFA Dairy Cattle Judgers win Districts
On October 12, 247 Dairy Judgers from 17 schools participated in the NorthEast District Dairy Cattle Evaluation event held at Rokeyroad Holsteins. Axtell A team won the contest with Oliver Schmitz getting 1st place Individual, Burke Deters getting 2nd, and Maryna Buessing gettting tenth place. The team will now have the opportunity to compete in the State CDE contest that will be held in May 2017, at the K-State campus. Other Axtell participants were freshmen Simon Schmitz getting 29th, and Quinn Buessing getting 32 in the B division. Students were able to sharpen their cattle evaluation and placing skills by placing 4 cow classes and 2 heifer classes based on Udder development, Dairy Strength, feet and legs, and frame. After the judging student were able to give two sets of oral reasons. During, the event everyone was able to enjoy tasting dairy products.
