Ag Mechanics Class goes on Tour
On Friday, November 4th the Axtell High School Ag Mechanics classes consisting of: Michael Carpenter, Chelsea Huninghake, Jacob Malcom,Tracy Schmitz,Winsten Mathewsen, Bridgett Volle and in Advanced Ag Mechanics Austin Schmitz went to Manhattan and Wamego for their class tour and workshop. First we visit when to MATC and meet with Mr. Chambers, the welding instructor. He gave a demonstration on the basics of TIG welding and the welding industry. Then we worked in the shop and all of us were able to TIG weld. We learned the proper technique, and how to weld with filler metal.
After the welding workshop we toured the campus to view other horizons of the technical branches of study there. When the tour was over we then went to CAT manufacturing in Wamego. There we were able to see welding and manufacturing first hand. It was an experience that influenced many of us in a positive manner and gave us an accurate view of the life of a welder.
