USD #113 Board Clerk/Accounting Supervisor

Title:                                      Clerk of the Board of Education

Qualifications:                     *High School Diploma

                                                *Experience in Accounting and payroll procedures

                                                *Demonstrated writing, typing, and computer skills

                                                *Preferred post-secondary education and/or certification in accounting or related field

Reports to:                            Superintendent (Supervisor) and Board of Education

Supervises:                            District Accounting processes

Purpose of the Position:      To provide the clerical and financial expertise necessary so the school district is able to support the achievement of district goals and outcomes. This includes the care and custody of records, books, and documents of the Board of Education to ensure efficient and lawful operation of the school district. To accomplish these tasks the Board Clerk must work closely with the Board of Education, Superintendent, and staff and administration.            

Job Functions:                      *Performance of duties in compliance with Kansas and Federal Law.

                                                *Attend and keep accurate minutes of all Board Meetings.

*Maintain and have custody of permanent minutes, records, books and documents of the Board of Education.

*Assist the Board and Superintendent with the Kansas Open Meetings Act.

* Maintain an accurate record of all district revenues, expenditures, and investments in the appropriate funds and by    campus.

*Ensure that all funds comply with the Kansas Cash Basis Law as applied to districts.

*Oversee accounts payable process.

*Prepare all information for State and independent audits.

*Keep accurate records and file all reports as needed for state and federal grants.

*Serve as a member of the Board negotiations team and perform related duties as requested by the Board and Superintendent.

*Ensure that all board policies are updated as needed.

*Implementation and supervision of legal payroll in accordance with negotiated agreements, contracts, letters of employment, etc.

*Complete the Local Consolidated Plan.

*Assist with Budget preparation.

*Implement the Health Insurance, Cafeteria 125 and 403(b) Plans.

*Accomplish duties as the KPERs designated agent.

*Prepare monthly Year to Date Expenditure Reports.

*Monitor monthly bills.

*Ensure bond payments are made accurately and on-time.

*Learn and use the Skyward Accounting System.

*Implement Workman’s Comp program.

*Prepare state and federal reports as needed.

*Assist the Superintendent and the administrative team with evaluating and implementing accounting best practices with other district personnel.

*Lead training for office personnel.

                              *Perform other duties as assigned by the Board or Superintendent.

Terms of Employment

  • Annual Letter of employment – 12 Month position – hourly rate of compensation commensurate with education and experience.  Start date is January 5, 2026.

Food Service:  Start Date:  Immediately.  Position is M-F when school is in session. 10 month position. High school diploma or equivalent required. Food service experience is preferred but not required. Salary based on experience.  Position involves food prep, serving, and cleaning duties. Must be physically active, personable and a team player. Position is as full-time kitchen manager.  Full time position is eligible for benefits. Food Service Substitute:  Start Date:  Immediately.  Position is on call M-F when school is in session.  Will average two to five hours per week, but on occasion more hours may be available.  This will be discussed at the interview.  Interested applicants may apply here.

Bus Drivers: - Start Date:  Immediately.  Substitute bus drivers for the 2025-26 school year. CDL and health assessment is required. Costs to obtain CDL will be paid for by the district. Drug testing will be required.   Interested applicants may apply here.
